Museum of Pop Culture / MoPOP

Bonnie Showers

Curator of Education and Interpretive Services

Over the last 7 years EMP Museum/now Museum of Pop Culture- MoPOP, has tasked Nat Seymour with 72 sessions of event photography including exhibit openings, rock concerts, youth ensemble music concerts, dance performances, private events, Home School days, Educator Professional Development days, award ceremonies and classes of all kinds including guitar instruction, theatre, dance, and visual. The over 2800 edited images Nat has delivered have been an incredible asset to our museum for our marketing, communication and community advocacy efforts.

Nat’s work has been featured in external and internal slide presentations, throughout our website, member and educator newsletters, and in museum printed literature. We have been proud to include his images in the last six years of our Annual Report.

In addition, Nat has provided the museum in 4 years over 800 edited photos of youth artworks (NW Native masks in paper, wire sculpture, fantasy maps, wearable art, geometric batik wax resist designs in cloth, etc) from our Partner School Outreach Program integrated arts residencies. In several projects Nat captured the students wearing their art with great sensitivity and an eye for telling a story. Each photo was a memorable portrait of the student artist and their work. Nat's professional images are shown on our 30 x 60 ft Sky Church screen as part of the students “Field Study” at the museum, celebrating them as exhibiting artists, while connecting their art work with real-life creative careers, which Nat personifies. We provide these photos to our grateful school partners for use in their school/ district-wide communications and arts advocacy efforts.

Nat teaches as well as photographs and since 2013 he has been a teaching artist for me at MoPOP leading photography classes for teens and for teacher professional development. He shows a lot of energy and preparation for every class and his enthusiam for the subject is congageous.

Nat’s manner draws smiles from our staff, visitors, teachers and students. He works conscientiously with his audiences, with the public, and is able to get the best from his photography subjects without imposing on their activities. Nat is a consumate professional and partner for MoPOP. He is conscientious in delivering his photos in a timely fashion and always ensures we are satisfied with the product.

We look forward to our continuing work with Nat Seymour, to seeing the images he takes at and for our museum, and sincerely appreciate his contribution to the institution.

Nat Seymour...has photographed three major, multi-day leadership conferences for Washington DECA (a high school student organization) over the last two years.  We could not be more thrilled with his work - we have continued to be blown away with the caliber of images we receive.  Nat “gets it” and after one walk through of the punch list he has continued to capture exactly what we want and has taken it to a new level!  We send sponsors and partners photos of the events and we LOVE it because the pictures so perfectly highlight the highest level of professionalism and capture the energy in the room.

Nat gets details right, is personable, delivers images on time and is more than flexible when we need to change plans or throw a last minute change at him.  From candids to posed “grip ’n’ grins” to photographing our keynote speakers and panels Nat is a pleasure - and fun - to work with.

In the high stress environment of a conference of three thousand kids and adults his calm demeanor is extremely important and I know that I can trust his judgement.

I look forward to seeing Nat’s images of next year’s conferences, and fear the day he might not be available – I cannot imagine ever using another photographer!

Nat Seymour has photographed numerous events and items for The Museum of Flight, including a NASA Future Forum, the final presentation of the Washington Aerospace Scholars, the Museum’s award-winning B-29 aircraft and crew, and product photography....

For hardware that flies through air, through space or items that remind us of flight, Nat’s unique and sympathetic perspective makes inanimate objects exciting. In a similar manner, Nat’s images of people show the passion within our staff and visitors....His photography of panel discussions is the most engaging I have seen.

Nat works efficiently with the museum staff to create images that are collaborative, creative and enjoyable to participate in. His manner is always professional; his images delivered on-time and formatted just as we need.

Nat Seymour...will remove any worries regarding your photographic needs during your event.  He is very much a professional from your initial contact to the time you receive the finished product.  He listens, which is so very important.  He is attentive to detail and offers suggestions in a manner by which the images are more than you can imagine.  Hiring Nat Seymour will guarantee that your event’s memories will be forever captured in a very positive light.

As president of a non-profit that produces frequent high-tech events in Seattle, I have called upon the skills of photographer Nat Seymour...often to document our forum, receptions and presentations. We have been very fortunate to have his skills at our disposal.

Nat’s pictures are consistently the best I have seen of business events. While each function's people, venue and atmosphere are clearly captured, what really comes through is the intensity that participants show as they interact with each other. When I look at Nat's pictures, it’s almost as if I am back in that room, listening to the discussion. I have personally received praise from my LinkedIn network when I post a photo that Nat has taken of me at these events.

Nat has taken pictures for us since 2011, and has captured events on healthcare, energy, additive manufacturing, big data and entrepreneurial space. His work spans over 500 edited images taken at 20 events in venues including the Museum of Flight, The Museum of History and Industry, The Washington State Convention Center, Union Square and Impact Hub.

Nat's photographs have been used to market our events in print and online and his pictures have been given to event participants - entrepreneurs, venture capitalists and angels - to show our gratitude.

In addition to providing direct photography services, Nat has also worked with our teams to guide the layout and lighting of venues for best photographic appearance. He is dedicated, detail-oriented and proactive to find the best angles for any event. Nat works smoothly with our group and with each venue’s staff to make the images happen with as little interference with the event as possible.
